The Quesnel Blackwater Paddlers Canoe Club will be hosting a talk and video presentation on the life of the late Jean Speare who passed away in December of 2022 at 101 years of age. Jean was a Quesnel-born outdoors champion, the author of five published books, a poet, an editor, an artist, historian, a wife and mother and one of the founders, initiators and developers of the Bowron Lake Canoe Circuit as it has come to be known today. Jeff Dinsdale, a local paddler with almost 40 trips around the Bowron Chain under his belt will share what he has come to cherish about Jean the person, but also about the unfolding story of Bowron history. Following the presentation, audience members will be invited to share their personal thoughts and memories. This event will take place on Friday November 24th, 7:00 p.m. at the Hallis Lake Cross Country Ski Club Lodge. Admission is free
