About
The Quesnel & District Community Arts Council (QDCAC) has spent more than five decades inspiring arts, culture, and heritage throughout the Quesnel region since their beginning in 1973. Entirely volunteer-driven, with support from their Executive Director, the Arts Council is dedicated to building a vibrant, creative community where the arts are accessible, celebrated, and deeply valued. Their commitment is rooted in their mission to initiate, promote, and develop understanding, involvement, and support for arts, heritage, and culture for the enrichment of all people in Quesnel and the North Cariboo.
The Arts Council plays a central role in Quesnel’s cultural landscape, providing funding, advocacy, education, coordination, and communication to local arts groups and community partners. They offer Project Support Grants enabling non-profit groups to launch new projects, expand existing work, and increase community participation in arts and culture. This funding supports a wide range of initiatives each year.
QDCAC is also a proud collaborator, working alongside community organizations to bring meaningful programs and events to life including pre-school music classes, Children and family concerts, community murals, the Dolly Parton Imagination Library and The Annual Children’s Festival in May each year.
The Arts Council’s impact reaches far beyond events and programs. They highlight the essential, often unseen role that arts and culture play in quality of life, which strengthens mental, physical, and spiritual wellbeing and has a profound social and economic influence in the region. QDCAC exists to nurture that impact, ensuring the arts continue to thrive for generations to come.
Arts Council Board
The Board of the Quesnel & District Community Arts Council is a collective of passionate volunteers dedicated to uplifting the arts in the Quesnel and North Cariboo region. Each board member brings diverse expertise, a love for community, and a shared belief in the transformative power of creativity. Together, they oversee grant programs, coordinate cultural events, build community partnerships, and advocate for the essential role arts play in daily life.
One accomplishment the Arts Council is especially proud of is the creation of a local video series that highlights artists, performers, and cultural groups. This work helps bridge the gap between the arts sector and the community at large, bringing art to the masses, building awareness, and fostering deeper appreciation for local talent. You can see view the series on YouTube.
Above all, the Board’s work is driven by a shared conviction that you cannot have a good quality of life without art. Their leadership ensures that Quesnel’s cultural sector remains vibrant, well-supported, and central to community wellbeing.
